Ekkocentric is a double album of remixes from the ekko cd, "centripetal" by artists from all corners of the globe. this is the latest incarnation of the ekko project - the re-interpretations of the original material and spirit, by respected artists. at times it is orthodox and fat, and at others it descends into strange and wonderful experimental weirdness. don't be fooled into a state of complacency either, for what this album shows us, if nothing else, is that established artists like zion train are really able to pull some real surprises out of their bag. The Interchill label has an excellent track record with just a few high-quality releases to date. Mostly Ambient compilations, these have included "Northern;" "Magnetic Blue" and "Interior Horizons". In between they released the noteworthy "Centripetal" by EKKO, a group featuring Adam Shaikh. Now with their latest offering comes "Ekkocentric," two innovative CDs of remixes from the EKKO title, and the impressive lineup includes Makyo, Hydraulic, Legion of Green Men, Watershell and many others. The tracks have a lot of exciting twists and turns, rhythms from all asides and pulsing electronics that have a neverending compelling appeal. Breaking new ground in Ambient electronica, "Ekkocentric" is a strong title.
