Formed seven years ago, Headmix have been resident in Brighton for the last five years. Currently a six-piece on a break (!), Headmix dabble in reggae, dub, and eclectic folk, both traditional and Eastern European. Main movers Sarah and Nuala sing and play their way through melodica, whistle, violin, accordian and bagpipes. Usually an acoustic act, this album being a result of DJ remixes, fuses their folk/reggae elements with more thump. Comparisons could be made with Afro-Celt Sound System, but Headmix are their own thing. A highly engaging project.
